After a delay of over two years, Romanian authorities managed to send to the European Commission the official notification on the subsidies scheme for the renewable energy sector, the Competition Council reads. This process is the last stage before its implementation. The EC was informally notified in July 2010 and there were several stages of technical consultations and exchanges of information with the two parties.
Despite the fact that the law on renewable energy 220/2008 has not been implemented so far, it is modified for the second time. It is estimated that after the Commission’s decision is obtained, 500 economic operators will benefit from this system that will develop projects in the renewable energy sector thus contributing to the achievements of the objectives of sustainable development assumed by the Romanian state.
