Romanian advertising agency, McCann Erickson managed to win two Grands Prixes in the promo/activation and direct categories for its campaign, the American Rom. This is the first time that a Romanian company won a Grand Prix. The same campaign brought McCann two bronze lions at the PR Lions category according to some representatives of Romanian agencies, present at the gala.

Contacted by, Adrian Botan from McCann Erickson said he could not be present at the gala as the plane was delayed. However he said that this is the best performance of a Central and Eastern European agency. It is time for Central and Eastern European countries to become the new miracle at Cannes. We proved it is possible. McCann Erickson wanted to trigger the customer’s national pride.

The chocolate bar was dressed up in The American flag and after a while it returned to the original packaging, the Romanian flag. The action triggered protests on Facebook and other media.
