Andy Roddick beat Razvan Sabau, qualifying the USA for the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup. The Romanian tennis player, Razvan Sabau, replaced Victor Hanescu, who retired from the double match on Saturday due to rib injury.

Andy Roddick recovered from Friday stomach aches and wrapped up the victory against Sabau 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, in one hour 40 minutes.

The first match of the tie concluded with Andrei Pavel's victory against Andy Roddick 6-7(2) 2-6 7-6 (8) 6-2 6-4, whereas the second single match evened the score with James Blake outlasting Victor Hanescu 6-4 7-6(5) 6-2.

The American brothers Bob and Mike Bryan won an easy point for the U.S when when Romanian Victor Hanescu retired from the double match with a floating left rib injury.

This was the sixth encounter between Romania and the USA in the Davis Cup, ended, as in the previous five, with the latter's victory.
