The Government decided to push for the laws in this manner on January 26 and is due to debate Monday a series of amendments submitted by MPs before facing the joint houses later in the day.

The draft law on Health reform was delivered to parliamentarians for debate on February 3 and drew over 300 amendments within days.

MPs target a long series of issues from national health programs and hospital activities to the establishment of a National School of Public Health and Sanitary Management.

The reform of the Health system has been debated for years but decisions were eluded repeatedly despite a long series of scandals related to hospital conditions, graft and a lack of management resources.
