Romania’s International Airport Henri Coanda has, starting today, a new terminal built at European standards to face its increase traffic. The new terminal, on 16,600 square meters increases the number of gates from 9 to 24 and can host over 1500 passengers in transit, three times the numbers it could before.

Works started in August 2009 and investment amounted to 60 million euro, which will be recovered in 10 years, according to the National Airports Company Bucharest. The new terminal increases the number of direct boarding from 5 to 14.

At the inauguration, PM Boc declared that the airport needs to reflect the country’s image, as it is the first thing foreigners see in Romania. The PM said that the investment is a success and it’s an important victory against the nihilism of those who claim Romania cannot build anything good.
