Senate blocks "summer ordinances"

For the first time in 17 years, the Senate decided not to allow the Government to rule during the parliamentarian summer holiday through emergency ordinances. 47 Senators agreed to block the cabinet during the summer, 17 opposed and 4 failed to chose.

The law must also pass the House of Deputies, where its fate will be decided on. Only the Liberals and the Hungarian Minority Democratic Union supported that government during the vote.

Mircea Goana, head of the main Opposition party - Social Democrats - explained a few days ago that the Government has enough laws to put to practice during the summer, without having to issue new ones during the holiday.
