Italian sports daily "Gazzetta dello Sport" named Romanian Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina) as the Most Valuable Player of the season in the football championship. The title comes after calculating the grades given by the newspaper journalists for each player in each game.
Mutu gathered an average grade of 6.58 (out of 10), being followed by the Serbian player Dejan Stankovic (Inter Milan) with 6.55.
Adi Mutu is also part of the "Season gold team", along with two of his team mates, goalkeeper Frey and striker Luca Toni.
