Romanian emigrants to summon Govt. to ECHR

Joi, 3 mai 2007, 0:00

Romanians in Germany, Ireland and France demanded in a petition that the Romanian Government ensures "solutions designed so that all citizens are enabled to vote on the referendum day. The group also announced it will monitor the way the voting process takes place and will use the data as evidence in a complaint to the European Court for Human Rights (ECHR).

The petition reminds the Government that it has the obligation to ensure that the democratic rights of all citizens are put into practice.
The initiative belongs to Liviu Mihaoc (Hamburg) and Ioan Drimus (Paris), the same who organized the first pro-Basescu demonstrations.
