President Traian Basescu warns that a sudden withdrawal of the Coalition troops from Iraq may lead to the division of the country. The statement was made during the meeting president Basescu had with the Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak.

International Herald Tribune, in its online edition on Thursday, noted that Traian Basescu is under a growing pressure to withdraw the 600 military Romania has in the region.

The Defense Minister, Sorin Frunzaverde, declared that Romania will take a decision regarding its troops in a few days. "Romania has to fulfill its mission in Iraq, but also will take into account the actions of its allies", said Frunzaverde.

Liberals once again opened the discussions on Romanian military's withdrawal, soon after UK and Denmark announced similar measures.
