Some 23,500 cars were sold on the Romanian market in June this year, a modest growth of only 0.1% compared to the previous month, according to data published by the Association of Car Importers and Producers - APIA. In the first six months of 2006, the auto market growth slowed down to 7.8% after a 9.9% growth in the first five months of the year, compared to the same periods of 2005.

Renault’s Dacia, the maker of Logan, remains a market leader with a share of 42.4%, but is affected by lighter sales in June.

According to APIA, 10,038 Dacia cars were sold in June, 295 unites less than May this year. And in the six first months of 2006, dacia sold 49,803 cars.

Dacia is followed by Daewoo with 9462 units and an 8.1% market share.
