The Ethical Commission of the Liberal Party reunited on Thursday to debate the initiative of withdrawing the Romanian troops from Iraq, sanctioning the Liberal members that had a different position than the rest of the party regarding this topic.

Following the launch of this idea by the Liberal minister of Defence in the beginning of the week, the Foreign Affairs minister Razvan Ungureanu and the Finances minister Sebastian Vladescu, both from the Liberal Party, voted against the troops’ withdrawal in the meeting of the Supreme Defence Council.

The Ethical Commission gave two public warnings for the two ministers, but also to other prominent Liberal MPs, and an ultimatum to one of them.

The Liberals decided to launch a campaign for raising awareness and gathering signatures for the pullback of the Romanian troops from Iraq.
