Romanian President Traian Basescu approved on Tuesday a decree withdrawing Transport minister Gheorghe Dobre from office and replacing him with Democrat Radu Berceanu, the Presidency announced today.

Radu Berceanu was due to hold a swear-in ceremony on Tuesday evening.

The President also signed a decree removing the seat of minister-delegate for the coordination of economic activities, held so far by Democrat Gheorghe Pogea.

The announcement comes a day after the Democratic Party, a senior member of the government in Bucharest, announced he would withdraw Dobre and Pogea while only providing a replacement for the former.
