The Authority for State Assets Recovery – AVAS will continue a profound restructuring program at the Brasov-based Tractorul company, no matter the results of the ongoing privatization talks with Indian company Mahindra&Mahindra.

According to AVAS head Razvan Orasanu, deactivated facilities at Tractorul might be sold or rented and the money thus obtained be used for the payment of debts and the continuation of plant activities.

Orasanu’s statements came on the margins of talks with Tractorul management and trade union representatives. According to the AVAS head, the personnel cuts will continue in the coming period with a target of 2,000 employees still to work there in the near future.

The taks come as negotiations with Mahindra&Mahindra are due to continue until May 31 this year, when a offer deadline set by AVAS for the negotiation process ends.
