The Romanian Commercial Bank – BCR has been recently named Best Emerging Market Bank in Romania by the experts of the US economic publication Global Finance. The publication selected the best banks of 22 CEE countries as part of a complex study on emerging markets around the world.

According to a BCR press release, the criteria used for naming the best banks in these countries were asset growth, profit margin, strategic partnerships, service quality, competitivity and innovation capacity.

BCR executive head Nicolae Danila is quoted in the press release as saying it is an honor for the bank to receive this new international recognition of its activities as a leader of the Romanian financial-banking system.

BCR has reported a 40% asset growth and a record net profit of 202 million EUR for 2005.
