A new possible bird flu hotbed has been identified in the Deleni township, Constanta county in SE Romania, the Agriculture Ministry in Bucharest announced on Monday. According to a ministry press release, probes on several chicken in Deleni produced positive results in quick tests and are due to be verified shortly.

Deleni was isolated and placed under isolation in case a decision is made for the slaughtering of local fowl.

Over 50 bird flu hotbeds have been identified so far in the Romanian counties of Braila, Buzau, Calarasi, Constanta, Dambotiva, Dolj, Ialomita, Tulcea and Ilfov.
