The Spring European Council started in Brussels on Thursday, bringing together the leaders of the 25 EU member states together with those of the candidate countries.

Romania is represent by president Traian Basescu and prime minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu, determined to promote and convince of the country’s progress in the accession process before a key European Commission’s report expected in May.

The EU-Romania Association Council said recently the country made significant progress especially with Justice reform, but more positive results were needed.

On the Council’s agenda there will be talks about energy, economic competitiveness, human resources and the creation of jobs.
