The Bucharest Court of Appeals annulled on Thursday a previous court verdict that finds the son of Romania’s richest businessman not guilty of possession of drugs, thus sending the case back to the Bucharest Tribunal.

Press agencies report the judges accepted an appeal by prosecutors who claimed the previous judicial decision in the „VIP-Cocaine" case ignored some of the evidence against Ion Ion Tiriac, the son of reputed businessman Ion Tiriac.

The VIP-Cocaine sparked waves of controversies over the last three years as the media speculated Ion Tiriac, who was well known for his connections with the previous Social Democratic government, might have intervened to influence the judges’ decision on his son and other people charged for drug possession and trafficking.
