Romanian journalist, regional correspondent for Romania Libera newspaper, Marian Garleanu was taken into preventive custody for ten days in a case involving secret military information leak to the press.
The journalist is accused of possessing secret documents and passing them to other persons. Garleanu said he was innocent and appealed the Court.
The Defence Minister, Teodor Atanasiu, requested an internal investigation last Tuesday regarding the leaking of military information towards two central newspapers "Romania Libera" and "Ziua."
The publication "Romania libera" wrote on February 7 that it was in the possession of classified documents of U.S. Army about the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
" Ziua" wrote on the same day that it also entered in the possession of secret military plans of the international anti-terror coalition.
