A nurse working for Giulesti maternity ward in Bucharest - where a fire broke in the intensive care section a week ago, killing several newborn babies - who was retained on Monday in relation with the accident, was placed under 29-day preventive arrest on Tuesday.
A court decision on the arrest is not final and can be challenged.
The nurse was retained for 24 hours on Monday evening as investigators into the fire said she left with no proper reason the intensive care section she was supposed to watch when the fire broke last Monday.
Five babies died following the incident.
