Romania's consumer protection department has fined the airline companies that delayed their flights on January 3 - 5 and did not respect the rights of their clients. Out of the 16 airlines investigated, 12 have to pay fines totaling 288,100 Romanian Ron. Blue Air paid the biggest amount: 49,200 Romanian Ron for not informing its passegers of the delays.

The airline companies that failed to comply with the rules were forced to pay some 300 Romanian Ron per each passenger that they did not inform about their rights and some 800 Romanian Ron for each passenger that did not receive assistance during those days.

Air Malta, El Al Israel Airlines, Swiss International Airlines and Romavia numbered among the investigated airline companies but these companies were found to not have broken any rules. Each passenger has the right to be informed about their rights in case the flight is more than two hours late.
