The government is currently analyzing the possibility to offer state guarantees for RAFO Onesti, a company undergoing a modernization process after it paid its dues to the state and for the maritime construction site in Mangalia, South East Romania, President Basescu declared, quoted by Romanian news agency NewsIn.

The government did not plan to loan enough money to cover the needs of all economic agents during the crisis and the only thing that it can do for companies is to offer guarantees for loans, Basescu explained.

He underlined that this possibility is regulated in the IMF agreement because there is a risk that these guarantees cannot be paid by economic agents and the government will be obliged to. The President showed that the state offered guarantees worth 400 million euro to Ford Craiova and 69 million euro for Oltchim Valcea.
