Giovanna Reggiani, the Italian woman presumed to be raped and murdered by a Romanian gispy, Romulus Mailat was not actually raped, a forensic report shows. According to the report, Romulus Mailat is still considered a suspect for murdering and robbing her.

Mailat is imprisoned in an Italian penitenciary even if he keeps arguing he did not murder her. The murder triggered a xenophobic wave in Italy against Romanian immigrants. At its turn, the Italian government approved an expatriation decree aimed at expelling all immigrants considered a risk for Italian citizens. However, the document has been repealed.
