The Romanian team won the gold medals at the European Gymnastics Championship this week, standing two points above second-coming Russia. The team of Steliana Nistor, Sandra Izbasa, Ana Maria Tamarjan and Gabriela Dragoi claims back the continental champion title after four years as the latest such performance was recorded in Amsterdam in 2004.

Third came host country France, followed by Italy, the winner of the previous Championship.

The Romanian team trained by Nicolae Forminte won most points in three components of the championship and came third at a fourth component. Steliana Nistor claimed most points for Romania.
