Romania's press distributor Rodipet, one of the main players in the sector, urged all press editors on Tuesday to increase the cover price in order to comply with what it called "EU standards" in this regard or else it will apply a higher sales commission starting with July 1, 2008. Rodipet representatives accuse monthly losses of 700,000 euro and declared that without these measures, it will go bankrupt.

Rodipet representatives say that out of 1,800 press booths presently owned, only 1,300 are open. The main reason invoked is that it lacks personnel since Rodipet is compelled to offer "European-level salaries" to reopen all sales points.

Rodipet officials declare that a 35% commission will be imposed upon press editors or a minimum distribution cost for handling, transportation, distribution and deposit will be charged. The commission will be set considering the cover price. To recover its losses, Rodipet will choose the most suitable option, a press release of the company shows.
