A Romanian woman is under investigation for embezzlement, after the Police gathered evidence proving that the woman managed to deceive about 100 people. Claiming to be an Allianz representative, she managed to gather some 5 million euro as rates for an extremely promising, yet fictional financial product, but the money was never paid to the insurance company. The company claims that the prejudice is close to 3.5 million euro, the rest of the sum being recovered. Allianz Communication Manager Marius Onofrei says that Allianz paid some 700,000 euro compensations, out of which 150,000 were recovered.

Allianz officials said the woman was one of the company's collaborators, not an employee. The case was discovered in August 2007, then the investigation begun. The scandal was discovered when the company begun to pay compensations for clients whose rates were not recorded as submitted.
