Romanian Prime-Minister Emil Boc order for more funds to be allocated to increase the salaries of those teachers who did not get the 17% plus.

"I ordered that in Buzau, if there are cases of teachers who have not received the 17% increase just as all teachers in this countries have done some far, then these teachers should get it", PM declared on Monday, March 22, for the public radio station, quoted by Agerpres.

Nearly 2,000 academic staff are taking part today in a rally in the Piata Dacia in Buzau (southeast), protesting against not getting the salary increases they got after taking the state to court.

The movement is organised by the Pre-university Education Union "Ion Neacsu" from Buzau. This is the first of the three-day protest action announced by Romanian academic staff, parallel with suspending classes for the second week in row.

In 2008, The Romanian Parliament voted to increase teachers' salaries by 50% before the Parliamentary elections. Later, this was reduced to 17%.
