Businessman Catalin Chelu attempted to bribe police quaestor Valentin Fatuloiu with 1 million euro, Romanian tabloid Libertatea reads, without quoting any source. However, Realitatea news television released the same information.
According to first informations, Fatuloiu refused the bribe and Chelu was taken to the antigraft prosecutors, for investigations. Some sources claim that Fatuloiu went to the antigraft prosecutors himself while other sources claim that the other party went to the prosecutors as well.
Catalin Chelu is one of the most active players on the capital market. Among most recent acquisitions made through his companies, he paid about 3.86 million euro for a business.
