Romanian member of the European Parliament Adrian Severin, whose immunity has been lifted by the EP on June 23, is subject of a criminal inquiry under suspicion of bribe taking and traffic of influence by Romanian anti-graft department (DNA) prosecutors, according to a DNA press release. Severin showed up at the DNA on Friday morning, telling news agency Mediafax it was a "preliminary talk" with prosecutors" and he would not elaborate during the procedure.

He said he would collaborate with the DNA as he considered himself on the same side with them and that he would be on vacation for the upcoming period.

Following the publication of materials in the Sunday Times who had posed as lobbyists accusing several MEPs, including Adrian Severin, of traffic of influence, DNA prosecutors took note of possible acts of corruption in the case on March 21 .
